- Q: Why do I need to fill out a W9?
A: Always refer to the rules and details posted for your specific event. Please note that a W-9 form is required by the US Federal government and the IRS for all prizes awarded with a combined value of $600.00 or more. If you win and receive a prize or combined prizes totaling more than $600.00, the government requires you (the recipient) and Player One Esports (the awarder) to disclose the fact that you won the prize(s). The IRS W-9 form is the way we each satisfy our disclosure duties. Once we receive a completed W-9 form from you, we will process and ship your prize. A 1099 MISC form will be generated and mailed to you to file with your tax returns.
